It was a real pleasure and honour to speak to Melissa whose journey of personal loss and overcoming challenges led to the creation of a company that embodies her ideals that has set the bar high for the pet grooming industry. She is such an amazing lady who truly moved me with her story and I am humbled that she was willing to share it with you today. This is her story. Bio: Melissa Boland is the founder and co-owner of 4-Legger - a mission based business created to develop USDA Certified Organic dog shampoo and grooming products for pet parents who are striving to give their dogs the best life possible. Having lost a beloved poodle to cancer caused by exposure to environmental toxins, Melissa places a high value on the importance of honesty and transparency in the pet industry. She has created 4-Legger to be the go-to source for pet parents wishing to purchase safe and healthy grooming products which are free of any artificial or synthetic additives, are planet-friendly and are made using sustainably sourced, natural ingredients. Prior to changing the multi-billion dollar Pet Industry through 4-Legger, Melissa’s lifelong interest in helping people was realized through a satisfying and productive career as an Occupational Therapist. Melissa spent nearly 2 decades working with individuals faced with serious health challenges and provided the therapeutic resources and knowledge to assist them in their return to independence from various neurological and orthopedic injuries. Being a recent breast cancer survivor herself, Melissa often credits her former patients with instilling a personal sense of compassion and empathy and feels blessed to have witnessed the resilience and fortitude of so many individuals determined to overcome their challenges. Melissa holds degrees in Occupational Therapy and Psychology and is a Nationally Certified and Board Registered Occupational Therapist. In non-work life, Melissa enjoys being an accomplished homebody who finds immeasurable joy playing with her own pups. She dabbles in cooking; is an avid reader; enjoys gardening and yardwork; prefers pen and paper to any form of e-communication, and finds music to be the ultimate soul-soother and one of the best gifts we are blessed with as humans.
