Thank you Krista for celebrating this special episode with me! :) Krista Powell Bio: My name is Krista Powell. I have been an animal advocate my entire life. But at the end of the day, I am just a dog mom who lost 3 out of 4 dogs to cancer and trying everything in my power not to lose another. I always tell people “I am not an expert. I am a dog mom who was an expert in losing dogs to cancer. But now my passion is to help change dog’s health and longevity, and be the very best I can be at it”. I started professionally working with whales 20 years ago assisting in research, behavior, toxicology and education in Gloucester, Massachusetts in the North Altantic. While working with whales in the summer, I worked in the emergency medical field for over 20 years as an EMT, emergency room tech, and a 911 fire and medical dispatcher for 17 years. Nearly 8 years ago, everything changed when we lost our 2nd dog to cancer within 5 years. The day we brought our 5 year old English Mastiff home with an osteosarcoma diagnosis, we began a search on why and how could we save him. He died a mere 3 months later, but he never had kibble cross his lips from the day he came home that fateful day. From that day forward we embarked on a journey of natural and raw feeding which evolved into our company, Vibrant K9. We decided that research and education was the best way to help others not only fight disease in their dogs, but also to hopefully raise healthy dogs who can potentially live many years past what we thought they may. 6 months after we lost our mastiff, our 11 year old basset hound was diagnosed with end stage kidney cancer. He lived until he was 15 and thrived on a raw food, species appropriate diet. I knew we had to pass this on to others, all while continuing our knowledge base of an ever evolving arena we call nutrition. We have committed to help others navigate their way through a sea of nutritional information so that they can feel strong and competent on their decisions to feed a fresh diet. Vibrant K9, our raw food company, fell into our lap, through pain of loss and yet passion for helping dogs. We have worked with hundreds and hundreds of dogs whether healthy or sick to give them the very best diet we can. It is our mission to have helped 1 million dogs by 2030, through nutrition and proper species appropriate feeding. My dream is to put a dent in a 50% cancer rate in dogs, through nutrition, and diet. My dream is to raise cancer free dogs, disease free dogs, and help others do the same. Vibrant K9: https://vibrantk9.com/ The Raw Entrepawneur: https://www.facebook.com/TheRawEntrepawneur
